cool arctic - nursery decor concept

I was inspired by a recent painting of mine to put together a nursery decor concept reflective of the cool arctic.

This combination of icy blue, white and grey colours paired with bold, modern patterns and a little pop of yellow would be a perfect gender neutral space that could easily grow with the child.

I envision this room with cool grey walls and modern white furniture but the opposite would look great as well - crisp white walls and warm, grey stained wood furniture. The little pop of yellow warms up the space and could be taken further by adding additional artwork featuring yellow or even a cozy area rug in a yellow and white wide stripe.

The Sources:

Plush Toy: Plush Patrick the Penguin by Milo & Ben - a handmade, fleece penguin would make for a cheerful decorative addition to the nursery and a cuddly pal for baby to play with once they are able. Canadian Designer.

Puzzle: Organic Blue Waves Water Stacking Puzzle by Wooden Moose - an organic, wooden stacking toy designed for imaginative play. I love to include decorative puzzle sculptures when dreaming up these decor schemes. I love the colours and lines of this puzzle and they are a perfect reflection of the ocean, the smallest white piece even reminds me of a floating ice cap.

Decorative Pillow: Arctic Circle Vintage Map Pillow by Mapology - this unique throw pillow would be perfect to add to a rocking chair or a reading nook bench. The map design of this pillow would outlast the nursery and likely make it to the living room!

Fabrics: Chevron Slices Mint & Gold, Mint Chevron & Grey Arrow Crib Bedding by Mod Fox - I love the combination of these three fabrics and would be tempted to get custom bedding (and drapery!) made for this scheme. I think it would be fun to have drapery made out of the top fabric and crib bedding, change pad, or even upholstered seat or bench cushions out of the other two.

Mobile: Needle Felted Driftwood Whale Mobile by Warm and Drift - this beautiful handmade mobile brings a sense of calm and warmth of nature to this modern decor scheme. I love the delicate sense of the whales and think it would be a nice compliment to the bold penguin imagery and patterns. Canadian Designer.

Artwork: 123 Penguins Original, Acrylic Painting by Tiny Brushstrokes - the inspiration for this cool arctic nursery decor scheme. Canadian Artist.

What do you think of this nursery decor concept?
