A little update on Valentine's top crafts I posted earlier. I made the felt cookies & decorations - went well, but after a bit of cookie making (he made sandwiches out of them over decorating) - the icing pieces were lined up to make a road! (typical!)
We also made the fish of out hearts - very cute, but haven't yet added to an underwater scene. I glued the fish heart parts together and he decorated. Then we made some old school Valentine's - construction paper hearts, glued on smaller hearts that I cut out and then markers & stickers.
I came up with a tiny brushstrokes original Valentine craft inspired by my 'love you' mixed tape Valentine's cards!
Check it out - Cute Cassette Tape characters!
I thought it would be fun to make little happy cassette tapes for Valentine's day greetings. I admit that this craft is better for older kids but can be altered for toddlers and little ones with prep from Mom/Dad!
Here are the instructions...
Supplies:
- black, white & red construction paper (or whatever colours you want to use)
- pencil
- scissors
- glue stick
- ruler
- a nickel
- a hole punch (optional)
- a 4" x 6" photo
- any other item to decorate with if you choose; stickers, feathers, etc.
Let's get started...
1. Trace the photo on black paper and cut out rounding the edges to make your tape.
2. Cut the tape label out of white paper, you an eye it or follow these measurements;
Trace black tape shape onto white paper and cut out. Measure 1/2 mm down from the top and 2mm up from the bottom. Measure 1/2 mm in for each side, using ruler make this rectangle. Cut out the label rounding the edges.
3. From that piece, measure 2.5 mm down from the top, 1.5 mm up from the bottom and 2 mm in from each side to make the center rectangular opening.
4. Using the red paper, cut out a small heart, a smile & 2 eyes (I used a hole punch) then glue it all together to make your smiley character.
5. You can add extra decorations to the tape however you choose, and write your message along the top. Have fun!
Here are 2 examples of ones I made...
Happy Valentine's Day!
